WHAT THE FOREST TAUGHT ME ABOUT GEOMETRY
本書は、長年にわたる自然の観察と制作を通して考えてきたことを、作品、写真、言葉とともにまとめたアーティストブックです。
森の木々や葉脈、光と影、音や振動。自然を観察していると、一見異なるものの中に、繰り返し現れる形や関係性があることに気づきます。
枝分かれする樹木や葉脈、広がりと収縮、生成と変化。自然のかたちは静止したものではなく、さまざまな関係の中で絶えず変化し、循環しています。そして、目に見える形の背後には、それを生み出す目には見えない働きや秩序があります。
本書では、フラクタルや幾何学的な構造、音や振動によって現れるパターンなどを手がかりに、目に見える世界と、その背後にある目には見えない構造との関係を辿ります。可視と不可視を切り離されたものとしてではなく、互いに関係しながら一つの世界を形づくるものとして捉えています。
こうした自然への観察と思考は、私の「幾何学刺繍＋墨アート」の制作へとつながっています。
長く制作を続けている《Samsara Forest（サムサラの森）》や《Arachne（アラクネ）》をはじめとする作品とともに、それらの背景にある自然観察や制作についての思考を紹介しています。
自然を見ることと、作品をつくること。
その二つの間を行き来する中で見えてきた、形、構造、関係、そして循環について、一冊の本としてまとめました。

WHAT THE FOREST TAUGHT ME ABOUT GEOMETRY
This artist’s book brings together artworks, photographs, and reflections developed through many years of observing nature and artistic practice.
Trees and leaf veins, light and shadow, sound and vibration. Through observing nature, I have come to notice recurring forms and relationships within phenomena that may at first appear entirely different.
Branching trees and leaf veins, expansion and contraction, emergence and transformation—the forms found in nature are never truly static. They are constantly changing and circulating through countless relationships. Behind the forms we can see lie invisible forces and underlying orders through which they emerge.
Drawing on fractals and geometric structures, as well as patterns that arise through sound and vibration, this book explores the relationship between the visible world and the invisible structures that lie behind it. Rather than seeing the visible and invisible as separate, I consider them as interconnected aspects of a single world.
These observations and reflections on nature are closely connected to my practice of Geometric Embroidery + Sumi Ink Art.
Alongside works from my ongoing series, including Samsara Forest and Arachne, the book introduces the observations of nature and ideas about the creative process that lie behind my work.
Observing nature and creating art.
Moving back and forth between these two practices, I have gradually come to perceive forms, structures, relationships, and cycles. This book brings those observations and reflections together in a single volume.
