From The Geometry the Forest Taught Me
《異花、ひらく》は、「奇妙な花たち」シリーズの一作です。
このシリーズでは、実在する花の姿をそのまま描くのではなく、花という形を起点に、そこから生まれてくる未知の形を探っています。
制作は、墨によるにじみや形から始まります。そこに赤や黒の糸を重ね、あらかじめ完成された構図を追うのではなく、墨と糸が交わる中で現れてくる形を見ながら、作品をつくり進めています。
《異花、ひらく》は、可視と不可視のあいだに存在する花をイメージした作品です。実体があるようでいて、ひとつの形には定まらない。いかようにも形を得ることのできる花を、墨と糸によって表現しています。
この作品は、著書『森が教えてくれた幾何学 / The Geometry the Forest Taught Me』の「糸で描く / Drawing with Thread」に掲載されています。
今回公開する Process 01 は、《異花、ひらく》の制作過程の一段階を記録した映像です。

Unfamiliar Bloom is a work from The Strange Flowers series.
Rather than depicting flowers as they exist in nature, this series takes the form of the flower as a starting point and explores
unfamiliar forms that emerge from it.
The process begins with forms and variations created by sumi
ink. I then layer red and black thread over them, not following a predetermined composition, but allowing the work to develop as I respond to the forms that emerge through the interaction of ink and thread.
Unfamiliar Bloom imagines a flower that exists between the
visible and the invisible. It appears to have a tangible presence, yet is not fixed in a single form. Through sumi ink and thread,
I explore a flower that can take on many different forms.
