Geometric Embroidery + Sumi Ink Art

Geometric Embroidery + Sumi Ink Art is an original technique conceived by artist Asami GOTO.

By combining the structural precision of geometric embroidery with the fluid expression of sumi ink, this technique visualizes patterns and structures found in nature as layered formations.

Through the accumulation of stitched lines and the diffusion and expansion of ink, it expresses branching forms, crystalline structures, and geometries generated by vibration—revealing the inherent rhythms and structures present in natural phenomena.

Rooted in both textile art and Nihonga (Japanese painting), this technique incorporates materials such as thread, sumi ink, gold and silver mineral pigments, vermilion pigment, and gold and silver leaf. The interplay between geometric control and organic flow gives rise to compositions in which order and fluctuation coexist.

Rather than remaining within the realm of decorative expression, this technique seeks to quietly reveal the underlying structures and subtle presence that exist beyond visible form.

幾何学刺繍＋墨アート

幾何学刺繍＋墨アートは、美術家・五島アサミによって創案された独自の技法です。

幾何学的な刺繍の構造と、墨の流動的な表現を組み合わせることで、自然界に見られる構造やパターンを、層の重なりとして可視化します。

刺繍による線の積層と、墨のにじみや広がりを通して、枝分かれする形態や鉱物の結晶構造、振動によって生まれる幾何学的なパターンなど、自然現象に内在するリズムや構造を表現しています。

この技法は、テキスタイルアートと日本画の両方に根ざしており、糸、墨、金銀泥、朱色顔料、金銀箔などの素材を用いて構成されます。幾何学的な制御と有機的な流動が重なり合うことで、秩序と揺らぎが共存する画面が生まれます。

本技法は装飾的な表現にとどまるものではなく、かたちの背後にある構造や気配を静かに浮かび上がらせることを目的としています。
